Dear Friends, I am entering Peconic Bay Hospital on February 26th for a knee replacement. It will be my fourth surgery on my right leg since I was in an accident in 2016.
I have been on the rounds of hospitals starting at Southampton Hospital where the initial surgery took place. There again eleven months later to repair my meniscus which they overlooked on the first surgery.
In June 2018 I had surgery at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York to undo what had been done at Southampton Hospital. Now, I am keeping my fingers crossed that my surgeon at Peconic Bay Hospital will finally provide me the relief that I have been seeking for two and a half years.
This is all to say that I will not be posting a blog for the next week while I am in rehab, however, I will have my laptop with me and will continue to post and answer questions while I am recovering.
FLASH ANNOUNCEMENTS: I have been asked to be part of an NPR radio show on older adults on the East End and in Connecticut in March. The station is WSHU which you can get at 89.9 on your radio dial or on Wi-Fi/Alexa on Tune In at WSHU. I will let you know when I know the date of the broadcast.
HAMPTON COFFEE contacted us in January. They are in support of Out East Neighborhood Network and our mission and wanted to sponsor an upcoming event. So, in May 2019 they will be sponsoring workshops at The Hallock Farm Museum in Riverhead and The Greek Orthodox Church (tentatively) community room in Southampton. Men and women 50+ are invited to join us for an informative discussion of who we are, where we are in terms of our progress as a new non-profit organization, where we are going, and how you can become involved.
We hope to do additional events throughout the summer and into the fall as we grow and word spreads about our mission and the services we provide.
Thanks for your support!
